Alcohol is your friend with polishing metal

When I say that alcohol is your friend when polishing metal, don’t misunderstand what I’m saying and start each polishing job by downing a bunch of beer. That is nowhere near what I’m saying, and drinking bear before operating polishing tools, or any tools for that matter, is very dangerous. When I say that alcohol is your friend I’m referring to the act of cleaning the area that’s getting polished with alcohol every now and then to help speed the process along.

Alcohol is your friend with polishing metal

Alcohol helps with the process of polishing metal by making sure that the surface is clean from dirt and residue that gets removed during the polish. Last thing that you want is for the little particles of foreign matter that gets removed to make scratches and blemishes during the polishing.

For really tough pieces of metal, the ones that are full with blemishes and tainted areas from the get go, I recommend cleaning with alcohol as soon as you start seeing small particles under the polishing tools. Cleaning the surface from those particles will speed up the entire process and the finished product will look much better. Alcohol that I used was just your regular, garden variety drugstore rubbing alcohol. Nothing special, but it makes all the difference when polishing really though pieces at home. Grab a rage, soak it in alcohol and see what kind of differences it makes on your next polishing gig.
