Wax on chrome is a big no no when doing polish

Messages keep pouring in and I’m happy to report that most of them have been either kind words of encouragement or questions from the DIY polishing crowd. Naturally there has also been those with critiques and they will be answered very soon. In the mean time I’ll be answering another interesting question that I received from a reader. This one is asking about what’s the right way to polish chrome, is it with wax?

Wax on chrome is a big no no when doing polish

If my years of experience with polishing various metals and materials has taught me anything is that you don’t want to use wax when polishing chrome Reason for that lies in the fact that when polishing chrome with wax, chrome starts looking hazy. A layer of wax does this, layer that’s later difficult to get off.

To achieve the kind of highly reflective shine that chrome normally has, you’ll need to polish chrome with either nothing, or by using our premium blend of polishing fluid. Everything else that you might want to use will probably be fine, as long as the fluid is actually used for polishing. Your local hardware store will have polishing fluid, or at least it should have, so use that when polishing difficult to damage surfaces, which chrome definitely is.
